About Me – Pilot Barbossa

As an entrepreneur based in Munich, I am dedicated to exploring and developing sustainable solutions in the fields of environmental and food innovation. At the same time, I am deeply committed to philanthropy, volunteering my time for various social causes. Whether as the founder of the German Alliance for Civilian Assistance e.V., supporting people in need, coaching children in baseball, providing homes for stray animals, or coordinating international disaster relief plans with the SAR-EMS-CDPU, volunteering is both a responsibility and a calling for me.

My passion for aviation began in childhood, with dreams of becoming a professional pilot. Life took a different path, but the skies found their way back to me. When I introduced my sons to gliding, they convinced me to give it a try myself. At the age of 43, I started soaring over the Alps in gliders. Since then, I’ve earned my licenses for motor gliders and ultralight aircraft, as well as a Rotax maintenance certification. I have also obtained my PPL-A license, and I’m currently preparing to begin IFR training. In parallel, I’m working on my class rating for the DAHER KODIAK 100, expanding my skills step by step and staying hungry for learning.

In the meantime, I enjoy exploring the skies and distant lands with my wife. And as for my nickname? It all started when the kids I coached in baseball began calling me “Coach Barbossa.” Today, I’m proudly known as Pilot Barbossa, combining my love for flying and mentoring into one identity.
